Windows Through Time, Machu Picchu Peru

Places of ancient people have always fascinated me. As I visit these places, I stand at the windows looking out at the landscape beyond and try to imagine what it was like to live there so long ago! Machu Picchu, at 7,970' above sea level in Peru, was build to house a thousand people. The craftsmanship of the rock work is truly amazing. It was designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1983.
This was done in two layers, the top layer painted on very heavily textured watercolor paper cut out to reveal the landscape beyond, which was painted on a lighter texture paper. Mounted and framed to 12x14 and available at Gay Street Gallery in Washington, VA.
