Old Rag Summit

SHENANDOAH NATIONAL PARK
The hike to the summit of Old Rag is one of the more challenging hikes in the park. The steep climb includes a mile and a half section through a rock scramble, where hikers have to be creative with rock climbing moves to maneuver through billion year old giant granite boulders. The pay off is well worth the effort, with a remarkable view into ridge after ridge of forested mountains. This is one of a series of paintings "My Backyards", celebrating the beautiful places I have been privileged to call home. Framed to 12 x 16.
